Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

If you have never practiced Pilates on a Reformer, the initiation class is mandatory.

During the Circuit Pilates class, you will use the Reformer and the Reformer + Tower. If you have never used a Reformer, you will not understand the exercises. Therefore, an initiation Reformer class is required.

In an initiation class, you will learn how the machine works, how to position yourself, make necessary adjustments, etc.

If you have already taken Reformer Pilates classes at another studio, you are welcome to join the Circuit Pilates classes.

If a class is full, you can still join the waiting list. You can see your requests in the “waiting list” section of your schedule.

We strongly encourage you to join the waiting list. There are often cancellations the day before or the day of the event.

If a place becomes available, an e-mail (or notification) will be sent to you automatically, so keep an eye on your messages. You then will have a certain amount of time to confirm your registration for the class. If you don’t confirm your registration within the allotted time, your place will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Of course, if no place becomes available, your package will not be deducted for that class.

– Every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm: Mat Pilates with Lucile (en studio starting October 16)
– Every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.: Yoga Flow with Layane (en studio starting October 20)

📍Parc Lafontaine, near the corner of Calixa Lavallée and Sherbrooke, close to the Bixi station (see photo)

If the weather is bad, the class will be held at Studio Mont-Royal in room n°2 😉

If you are a beginner, you can start with the class that appeals to you the most: yoga, pilates, barre fitness, or essentrics. There is no set path. If you want to do yoga, start with a yoga class. The “open to all” classes are accessible to beginners.

However, if you want to practice reformer pilates and have never used the equipment before, you must start with an introductory class. The introductory reformer pilates class will teach you how the machine works and the basic postures.

Payment for classes is done online using a MASTERCARD or VISA credit or debit card.

Alternatively, you can make a payment via Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer upon request.

Cash payments are not recommended. They are only possible at our Mont-Royal location. Please contact us in advance to ensure we will be on-site.

All our packages include access to our 7 studios!

Our studios are open during class hours.

We have three customer service representatives who are regularly present at Mont-Royal and Vert Prana. You can find their availability on our “Contact” page, click here.

Our classes are (almost) always in French. However, the vast majority of our instructors are bilingual. If you are English-speaking, please let the instructor know and he/she will adapt the class accordingly.

A few rare classes are offered in English only; this is mentioned on the schedule and on Bsport.

If you’re having trouble booking, please visit the new customer registration page of our website. On this page we explain step-by-step how to purchase lessons and reserve your place.

Pilates Reformer Initiation: If you’ve never done a Pilates Reformer before, this class is for you.
You’ll need to start with one or more initiation classes to learn how to use the machine. The instructor will take more time to demonstrate the basic exercises. You’ll also begin to integrate the Pilates vocabulary essential to take you further.

Pilates reformer Beginner : For those who have already completed 1 or more Pilates Reformer Initiation classes.
The beginner’s class is designed to consolidate the basics. The instructor will provide invaluable explanations to help you understand the exercises. You’ll do more repetitions, more movements to work harder and integrate every detail that will make the difference.

Pilates Reformer Regular: This class is open to beginner + to intermediate levels. You’ve taken the Initiation class and then the Beginner class?
Have you mastered the vocabulary and basic exercises? This level offers more variations of exercises, more rhythm, more fluidity. We go further in body awareness. Beginner and intermediate options are available to suit both levels.

Pilates Reformer Intermediate: For those with good Pilates Reformer experience.
More rhythm, coordination and balance. Fast-paced exercises. Pilates vocabulary and basics must be mastered before taking this class. Exercise options and variations suggested by the instructor are at intermediate level. Ask your instructor for advice if you have the required level.

It’s essential to note that everyone is different, and progress in these disciplines can vary according to physical ability, experience and individual goals. It’s important to listen to your body, remain aware of your limits and progress at your own pace. If you’re not sure when to move on to the next level, don’t hesitate to consult your instructor for advice tailored to your situation.

Pilates classes on reformer machines are more expensive for 3 reasons:

  • The Reformers take up a lot of space and enable us to offer classes to a maximum of 8 or 10 people instead of 14 to 18 on the floor.
  • Reformer machines are expensive to buy.
  • The maintenance of these devices is specific and requires precise adjustment and cleaning.

Interested in a workshop? We invite you to visit the workshop page and click on “Reserve” to register. You can also do so from the Bsport Calendar under the “Workshops” tab.

We accept all extension requests made before the expiry date. Please note that the duration of packages is indicated on your purchase invoice.

In the event of health problems or injury, we will review your extension request with supporting evidence.

For all requests, please send an e-mail to this address: info@equilibrestudio.com or use our contact form on the Contact page.

We have noticed that many of you tend to forget belongings at the end of a class. To streamline the retrieval of these lost items, we have implemented a dedicated basket in each studio.

If you have misplaced something, we encourage you to return to the respective studio during opening hours (available on Google) and ask the instructor present on-site, who will guide you to the “Lost and Found” basket.

When contacting our customer service, the person responding may not be physically present in the studio where you lost your item. Therefore, it is advisable to make the request to our on-site team.

Studio Équilibre does not assume responsibility for the loss or theft of items. Additionally, to prevent clutter, items left in our basket for more than one month will be donated to a Renaissance donation center.

It is possible to pause certain Liberty Unlimited packages for a maximum of 3 interruptions per year for a total of 60 days.

To pause your plan, please send us an e-mail via our e-mail address: info@equilibrestudio.com or contact us via our contact form.

Yes, of course, it’s possible! Here are the 3 steps to follow to get reimbursed for your private lesson:

  1. Check if your insurance covers the costs: Make sure your insurance policy covers private pilates classes, pilates reformer, etc.

  2. Obtain an insurance certificate: The studio does not provide insurance certificates. Only authorized instructors can issue them. When you wish to book a private lesson, please confirm with customer service that the chosen instructor is authorized to provide the necessary certificate.

  3. Confirm the association’s coverage: Ensure that the association to which the instructor belongs is covered by your insurance.

We recommend that you arrive 5 to 7 minutes before the start of the class. This gives you time to get changed, if necessary, and to place your belongings in the checkroom or hall. It’s also a good time to pick up the equipment you’ll need for the class: mats, blocks, etc. Our studios open 15 minutes before the start of the class.

If you arrive between 10-15 minutes after the start of the class, you can enter discreetly (so as not to disturb the class) and wave to the instructor, who will tell you if you can join the class. If you are more than 20 minutes late, you will not be admitted to the class. Thank you for your understanding.

What outfit should I choose?

Comfortable clothing that gives you freedom of movement, e.g. tank top/t-shirt and leggings. All classes are held barefoot or in socks. We recommend non-slip socks.

What to bring ?

All equipment is at your disposal in our 6 studios: mats, weights, elastic blocks… If you’d like to bring your own mat, you can. You can bring your own water bottle if you need it during the class.

Something unexpected? An emergency? Is your car stuck in the snow? Can’t make the class you’ve booked? On the Bsport platform, you can cancel your bookings by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner, then “My account”. You can then view your bookings, and cancel them. Or on the mobile application: Bookings, then “cancel”.

You can cancel your reservation for a class on Bsport free of charge, provided you do so within the following deadlines:

  • Minimum 6 hours before class for all classes except Pilates Reformer,
  • Minimum 24 hours before class for Pilates Reformer or Circuit classes.

If the notice period is not respected or if you don’t come to the class, you will lose your class (à la carte packages).

If you have an unlimited membership, the studio may charge the following cancellation fees:

  • 10$ penalty for late cancellations, if no one has replaced you,

  • 15$ penalty for failure to show up for a reserved class that has not been cancelled.

If your absence is due to a medical emergency (hospitalization, for example), the course will be credited back to you. You must send us a certificate signed by a medical professional.

The studio cannot be held responsible for weather conditions, traffic, public transport or anything else that might hinder your journey to the studio.

The studio is not flexible on these rules. Thank you for your understanding.

Our clientele ranges from 18 to 85 years old.

Our yoga, pilates, pilates reformer, and essentrics classes are accessible to all ages. Each person adapts the class according to their abilities. The instructor offers several exercise variations during the class. The exercises generally have multiple difficulty levels, and it’s up to you to choose the one you prefer.

Children over 15 years old can participate in the classes without restrictions. Younger children can join if accompanied by a parent. Please consult with us to ensure that the class is compatible with your child’s abilities.

If you have never practiced reformer pilates before, the initiation class is mandatory. You will learn how the machine works, how to position yourself, make adjustments, understand the terminology, etc. We recommend taking 1 to 2 initiation reformer pilates classes before moving on to the following classes: beginner, regular, or intermediate.

If you have already taken reformer pilates classes at another studio, you can start with a beginner class.

After your first class, we encourage you to ask the instructor which class level you should proceed to: beginner, regular, or (exceptionally) intermediate.

If you are injured or recovering from an operation. Please ask your family doctor/surgeon/specialist whether or not you are fit to take part in any sports, even gentle ones.

Please also take the time to tell your instructor about your injury before the class starts, so that she can offer you variations if necessary.

We are not medical professionals. No member of our team can decide whether or not you are fit to take part in a course.

We offer prenatal classes dedicated exclusively to pregnant women. These classes focus on physical maintenance and conditioning for the arrival of your baby. You can attend these classes from the early weeks of pregnancy up until your delivery. It is highly recommended to get approval from your doctor, and it is essential if you are less than 12 weeks pregnant. For more information about prenatal classes, click here.

If the schedule of prenatal classes does not fit your timetable and you wish to attend a class open to everyone, it is possible. However, please note that not all of our instructors are trained in the specific needs of pregnant women. In case of any issues, the responsibility will be yours. Additionally, the instructor may refuse you access to the class if they are not trained in prenatal Pilates.

If you wish to practice barre fitness, mat Pilates, or Essentrics, we recommend taking a private class. We will connect you with an instructor trained in prenatal care. You will then receive personalized attention tailored to your needs as a pregnant woman.

Would you like to book a private or semi-private lesson? We invite you to visit our dedicated page and make a booking request, click here.
