The goal of prenatal classes is to introduce movement to the body, work on breathing, and improve the mobility of areas stiffened by pregnancy (such as the hips). We will focus on hip-opening postures, back stretches, and resting positions. Certain inversions, closed twists, and poses that strongly engage the abdominals will be avoided.
Postnatal Pilates classes focus on pelvic floor work, abdominal strengthening, posture correction, and relief from discomfort. You’ll work on your breathing with stretching and flexibility exercises for the legs, back, and neck.
Improves strength and flexibility
The sequences of postures offered are adapted for pregnant women/new mothers. This class is ideal if you want to increase your strength and flexibility to better adapt to the changes in your body during/after pregnancy, without the presence of intensity.
Stress reduction and relaxation
Prenatal and postnatal classes offer stress management and relaxation techniques that are essential during these periods of transition and change.
Strengthens the muscles, especially the back
With the weight of the baby, the expectant mother often increases the curve in her back, which can cause pain. Yoga and Pilates postures will help create space between the vertebrae and relieve these back tensions.
